Forum Lists – Are They Worth it

There are many websites these days selling lists of available forums for you to place your backlinks in. Are people really paying for such lists and are they worth it? Having purchased these lists myself I would most certainly say yes they are worth it. They are a huge time saver and the prices for them are very modest.

Eventually I learned how to find such forum sites myself and I thought it was a bonanza – I would no longer have to pay for a list and I would have all the available forums I could dream of. What actually happened was I almost turned into a zombie-like vegetable who spent way too much of my time searching for such forums at the expense of my valuable time.

At first it was rather easy to find these forums. Then it became a nightmare. Sure I learned how to harvest these URL’s using purchased tools but soon I reached a point of diminishing returns. Raw lists that contained thousands of sites. In most cases only 10 – 20% were allowing open registration in conjunction with allowing signature/bio links.

But you don’t know this until after you have determined which sites allow publicly viewable profiles, after you have registered, after you have received an activation email, and after you have actually tried to place a link. Imagine doing that one thousand times and only having success with 100 – 200 of the sites! Sometimes the activation email can take up to 4 weeks and sometimes you never get the activation email. Sometimes publicly viewable profiles have links in them but by the time you register and are activated the moderator has disallowed links in new profiles. It is no joke when I say you could spend hundreds of hours trying to build your own list of sites.

Not as easy as I thought it would be. So yes these lists are worth it, lists that have weeded out the trouble sites.
