Best Practices

If you are going to be making your own profile backlinks it is best if you use proxies. The reason for this is to prevent your own IP address from being flagged by forum owners as being a spammer. If this happens you will not be able to register with many forums who participate in sharing such lists of known spammers. By the way, none of this activity is illegal in any way, it is just frowned upon by some forums, so don’t worry about their name calling. If your own IP address does get flagged by some forums as a spammer, do not worry. Nothing bad will happen, they cannot report you to Google or to your Internet Service Provider. You will just not be able to register with some forums. If you try you will get the following or a similar message, “Sorry, you have been identified as a spammer, go away”. Tip: if this happens with a proxy IP you can always note the forum URL and try again later with another proxy IP address but only after you have closed your Internet browser and cleared your cookies. CCleaner is a great free software tool that will effectively accomplish this for you.

You can be identified in one of three ways, 1) by your username, 2) your email address, and 3) by your IP address. So it is therefore best to routinely change your username, email address and IP address (through proxies). This is not so hard at all, in fact it is rather easy.

First, using multiple emails. Many forums disallow member registration if your email is a gmail or yahoo account. These are free and plentiful and they figure anyone trying to register with one of them is probably a spammer. You may not know it but you have plenty of other emails available to you. Your Internet Service Provider usually allows you multiple emails for free. People just forget to use them. For example, if your Internet Service Provider is Road Runner they allow you up to 10 email accounts. If you have a website then your hosting service usually allows a ton of emails. For example, if your hosting account is through Hostgator, most of their basic packages allow unlimited emails for each domain you have registered.

Use multiple IP proxies. There are many proxy services on the Internet for you to choose from. For starters I would recommend proxybonanza.com. For beginners on a tight budget they have a shared lite package of 8 proxy IP’s for just $5.99 per month. Another great package they have is 30 IP’s for just $14.99 per month. These are shared IP’s. Shared by other proxybonanza customers only. This is usually good enough for our purposes here. One word about proxies. Any proxy, whether it be a shared or private proxy has been used before by someone else in the past, I guarantee it. None of them are pristine, so don’t worry about it.

So, what you need to do is mix up your usernames, email addresses and proxy IP’s. This is not difficult at all. If you purchase a forum list from this site, along with each list is a detailed video on how to take advantage of this process. The videos will show you exactly what to do by example and how to automate a lot of the processes using free software and plugins for your Internet browser. Once you learn this you will no longer need to pay for this type of link building service, just a few dollars for a list if you don’t want to spend the time building your own list of sites.

The process of setting up forum profile backlinks should be a 3-step process,

  1. Register for membership.
  2. Receive activation email and activate account.
  3. Wait about a week, return and then drop backlinks.(1)

(1) The idea behind this – if you wait about a week, other new members have registered after you and you are therefore no longer the newest member or at least not on the top of the new member list. This increases the chance that the forum moderator will not look at your profile, determine that you are only there for links and then delete your membership. Not 100% foolproof but I still think it is a good idea.

Signatures and Bio’s

This is where links are placed in profiles. There are many theories about how to best place links in them. One of the most controversial goes as follows,

“Your backlink needs to be within the body of some text rather than a stand alone backlink”

First of all I would contend that there is no such proof at all. Even on some of the most popular web pages (e.g.  Google as well as Yahoo) there are many stand alone links. Blog comment backlinks themselves are stand alone links, usually above or below the actual comment not within the comment itself..

Furthermore, most forum profile signature and Bio sections only allow a limited number of characters. Usually somewhere between 100 – 500 characters. With that limitation you cannot squeeze in very much information, or content.

In other words, a forum profile signature/Bio is a web page designed for a very limited amount of content.

Some people have gone to the trouble of creating a theme based sig/bio that they spin to avoid the duplicate content issue. I would maintain that with the limited amount of characters allowed in a profile page, how many times can your really spin it and still be original? Especially if you want hundreds or even thousands of backlinks.

The only advantage to such a theme based profile is that it might look more attractive to the forum owner, that maybe the forum member is for real and not just looking for backinks. A bit of over thinking in my opinion and a lot of trouble to implement.

Best practices for the backlinks,

  1. A maximum of 3 – 5 backlinks per profile, I prefer just three.
  2. Each of these links should be to a different site or at least to a different page of the same site, each with their own text. If the backlinks you are placing are all to the same website but different page, then I would recommend leaving only 3 such links and not 5.
  3. Don’t make posts on the forum. I know this sounds crazy and a lot of people will disagree. In fact many people will advise you to participate in forum discussions. However, with each post you make you leave a signature with your backlinks. If you make for instance 20 posts, then your signature with its backlinks will show up 20 times on the same forum domain. One backlink on 20 different websites is certainly better than one link on the same site 20 times. You don’t really need this. And it could draw attention to your backlinks. Remember, you are making forum profile backlinks to help your serp ranking, not to draw the minuscule traffic from someone seeing your backlink in your forum post and then clicking on it.

If you are going to be making your own profile backlinks I strongly recommend you use Firefox for your Internet browser. There are things you can do with Firefox that you just cannot do with Windows Internet Explorer. Firefox also has an add-on called Autofill Forms that you will need. Another free software tool I use for the rare occasions when Autofill Forms will not work on a particular website is ShortKeys Lite.

If you purchase a list of forums from this website you will also receive videos showing exactly how to use these tools to register at forums at a rate of 100 -300 sites per hour and how to place backlinks also at a rate of 100 – 300 profiles per hour. With 3 – 5 links on each profile, that can add up to many hundreds of backlinks per hour, just do the math.
